Hi Reader!Spring is my absolute favourite season and considered one of the best times to visit Barcelona! Spring gives me so much joy and hope. And in my new apartment I've been busy buying plants for my terrace - I can't wait for the weather to be good enough to make the most of it! The weather is getting warmer (although you might get some rain in early spring like the past few weeks!), and you can enjoy outdoor activities without the extreme heat of summer. Spring also brings colourful blooms to the city, and there are some fantastic local festivals to enjoy such as Sant Jordi in April. Why Visit Barcelona in March?March can be a great time to visit Barcelona, during the transition from winter to spring. The weather during this period is generally mild, with daytime temperatures ranging from 10 to 18 degrees Celsius (50 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit). While it might not be as warm as the summer months, the pleasant temperatures make it comfortable to explore the city, although rain isn't uncommon. One big advantage of visiting Barcelona in March is the lower number of tourists compared to the peak summer season. This means that popular attractions and landmarks are likely to be less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Why Visit Barcelona in April?April (and May) is my favourite time to be in Barcelona. The weather is generally warm and pleasant, with spring in full swing. Daytime temperatures typically range from around 10 to 20 degrees Celsius (50 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit) so it's a great time to explore the city without the intense heat of the summer months. April is classed as the shoulder-season when it comes to tourism, so while it is usually busier than visiting Barcelona in winter, the crowds are not as overwhelming as they can be during the summer peak - although Easter Holidays do get busy. With the warmer weather, outdoor activities kick off again, along with festivals and events to celebrate Spring in Barcelona. As for exploring the rest of Catalonia, April is a wonderful time to get out of the city to explore the regions around Barcelona, from wine tasting in the Penedes to hiking in the Montseny mountain range. Sant Jordi (April 23rd)Sant Jordi is the Catalan version of Valentine's Day and is celebrated on April 23rd. On this day, the city is filled with stalls selling books and roses, and there are various cultural events and activities throughout Barcelona. It's a charming time to be in the city and witness the celebration of literature and love.
Why Visit Barcelona in May?May is a wonderful time to visit Barcelona. The weather during this month is usually pleasant, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from around 15 to 25 degrees Celsius (59 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit). May marks the beginning of the tourist season in Barcelona, so you can enjoy the city without the extreme crowds that peak during the summer months, although it can still be very busy at weekends. The flowers are in bloom, and outdoor attractions are in full swing. It's a great time to explore the city's architecture, parks, and beaches as the Xiringuito beach bars begin to open and the weather warms up.
I hope this has inspired you to plan your trip to visit Barcelona this Spring (or next Spring!).
